About Us
The South African Endoscopic Spine Society (SAESS) is a professional organization dedicated to advancing the field of spinal endoscopy in South Africa. Established to serve orthopedic and neurosurgeons specializing in minimally invasive spinal surgery, SAESS aims to enhance patient care through education, research, and collaboration. The society focuses on innovative techniques such as monoportal and Unilateral Biportal Endoscopic (UBE) spine surgery, striving to improve surgical outcomes and recovery times. By fostering a community of practitioners, SAESS provides a platform for sharing knowledge, conducting training, and engaging in academic and social activities. The society also emphasizes maintaining high ethical standards and promoting international ties to enrich the expertise of South African spinal surgeons.

Our Aims

Promoting the needs, interests, and wellbeing of Orthopaedic and Neurosurgeons
specialising in Spinal Endoscopy

Promoting academic research and training in the field, to ensure improved care for
patients undergoing Spinal Endoscopy

Providing a forum for the Orthopaedic and Neurosurgeons who are practicing
Endoscopic Spinal Surgery

Fostering, developing, supporting teaching, training and research activities in
Spinal Endoscopy

Carrying out academic and social activities for the betterment of the Society
Members practicing in the field

Fostering ties with the international Spinal Endoscopy community - those
practicing in and/or researching Endoscopic Spine Surgery - to increase the
resources and knowledge of the South African Endoscopic Spinal Surgeons.
